All about Volunteering

Today we share information on current volunteer roles, what you can expect as an Endometriosis UK volunteer and more.

Volunteers are at the heart of all we do at Endometriosis UK. Without them, our support services including Support Groups, Web Chat and Helpline could not exist. Our Support Network services enable us to reach those who rely on us for support and information and make a real difference to the 1.5 million women and those assigned female at birth in the UK with endometriosis and their loved ones.

Our Engagement and Volunteer Manager Ushma says,

“Welcoming new volunteers at Endometriosis UK helps us to expand much needed support across the UK and reach more of those affected by endometriosis.

Your dedication makes a huge difference and we’re so grateful to those who give their time and support.  We have a range of different roles you can volunteer across. These include...

  • Volunteer Support Group Leader
  • Helpline volunteer
  • Webchat volunteer
  • Volunteer Health Unlocked Moderator
  • Volunteer Facebook Moderator

"As a volunteer, you can expect to receive induction training to help you settle into your role, ongoing training and support to help you develop in your role, a chance to meet other volunteers, form friends and make a difference to those in need of support.

A huge thank you to those considering volunteering, we look forward to hearing from you!”

“It’s a chance for me to give back and help others, if I can make a difference to at least one person it's worth it. I don’t want others to go through what I did, I want them to have somewhere they can turn too to feel heard and get support”

What do I need to know about volunteering?

Our volunteers don't need any specific skills or qualifications, however support network volunteers provide peer to peer support for those with endometriosis and therefore must have lived experience of the disease.

Our Support Network volunteers offer 2-3 hours of their own time each week and in return they can expect to receive high quality induction training, ongoing training and support to help them in their role. Volunteers can claim expenses they incur whilst volunteering for Endometriosis UK and can request a reference if they have been volunteering for 6 months or more.

When signing up to become a volunteer we ask that you can commit to a minimum 6 month period.

If you are interested in volunteering, you'll find all you need to get started on our Volunteer page here, including upcoming induction dates and individual role descriptions. If you have any questions, please get in touch with our friendly team on support@endometriosis-uk.org

Did you know...

If you don't have lived experience of endometriosis, or you cannot commit to a regular volunteering schedule, there are other ways to get involved too! The Volunteer page on our website is regularly updated with opportunities for one off or ad-hoc volunteering including at Endometriosis UK events and Cheer Volunteers for challenge events.
