Endometriosis UK welcomes the Government's commitment in this week's Autumn Statement to setting up a £15m fund for women's charities. This money is desperately needed. Small women's charities like Endometriosis UK struggle to access funding for our vital services providing a lifeline for women with this debilitating and life-changing condition.
However it is disappointing that the so called Tampon Tax is to continue. Menstruation is not a luxury and sanitary protection is not a luxury item. Women will effectively be funding their own care, which Endometriosis UK finds unacceptable - and unsustainable when the Tampon Tax is finally abolished. We support the Government in their continued campaign for the complete removal of the tax and in their commitment to women's services.
