Endometriosis UK welcomes new research from Fertility Network UK

Following the launch of their patient survey into Trauma in Infertility in 2023, Fertility Network UK have today released new research into Trauma in Infertility, sharing research findings for the start of National Fertility Awareness Week 4th-8th Nov 2024. The research found that infertility-related trauma is more common than previously recognised.

Endometriosis UK welcomes this research from Fertility Network UK that highlights the impact infertility can have on people’s mental health. We know through our own research that endometriosis can have a huge impact on both physical and mental health, and that fertility challenges can add to the anxiety and trauma of living with the disease.

We support the measures in the report, including the need for greater access to mental health support for those going through, or who have been through, fertility challenges due to their endometriosis.

A note on endometriosis and fertility:

Endometriosis does not necessarily cause infertility but there is an association with fertility problems, although the cause is not fully established. Even with severe endometriosis, natural conception is still possible.
