Scottish Parliament Developments

Endometriosis UK has been working in partnership with the Scottish Government on improving treatment and care for women with endometriosis, following campaigning work at the Scottish Parliament in early 2014.

Much progress has been made since, via the Endometriosis Short Life Working Group (ESLWG) that was subsequently set up. This group is attended by Endometriosis UK CEO, Jane Hudson Jones. A proposal has been delivered to and endorsed by the National Planning Forum (NPF) for a national Managed Clinical Network for endometriosis (NMCN) across Scotland, for consideration by the National Specialist Services Committee (NSSC). The NMCN would co-ordinate endometriosis care across all relevant agencies, from GPs to specialist centres and community organisations (for more on NMCNs follow this link).

The NPF also support the recommendation of the ESLWG that “the West of Scotland regional planning group should consider pursuing BSGE specialist centre accreditation”. The NSSC decision will be announced shortly and of course we will keep you updated.
