"It's very hard not
being able to take
the pain away"
"My reason for doing this is that my wife has suffered for many years with endometriosis. She recently had her fourth laparoscopy, and life for her has at times been really miserable. The pain that she lives with on daily basis fluctuates between mild to severe. All I have been able to do is be there for her. Although she tells me how grateful she is for my support it is very hard just standing there when she is in pain not being able to do anything to take it away.
"I know doing an Ironman Triathlon will not take her pain away, but if I can raise some money to increase understanding of the condition, a lot of which is needed within the medical profession as well as with the public at large, then hopefully more women will not have to suffer in the way my wife Charlotte has. You never know, this attempt at awareness raising might even help her current condition. I just want to do something. This is something I know I can do."
